Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.
Invisalign can be use to treat patients who have mild to moderate misalignment and can also align the bite. Patients with overbite, crossbite, or underbite can get Invisalign treatments. This is done by wearing the trays for at least 20 hours a day. The trays are easily removed, allowing patients to maintain their oral health and wellness, flossing and brushing as they normally would without having to worry about brackets and wires that can be uncomfortable.
Comfortable, clear and removable – Invisalign transforms your smile without disrupting your life. Something that over 8 million people worldwide have already discovered.
Step 1 – Assessment
You attend our practice for a free consultation where we will assess your smile by use of examination and photographs, to see if you are a good candidate for Invisalign.
Step 2 – Treatment plan
If you are a good candidate for treatment then we will take a series of X-rays and digital scans to determine a treatment plan that is customised for your particular case. With this plan, we can provide a computer simulation of how your teeth will shift and move over time, allowing us to predict just how your smile will look when it’s done. This treatment plan is sent to a dental laboratory that will create a set of clear aligners just for you.
Step 3 – Aligners
Once the aligners have been made, you can collect the first set in our practice or have them delivered to your home. They have to be worn every day for the recommended time and will be changed at home every 1-2 weeks as treatment progresses. These aligners are removable which means that you can eat your favourite food as normal without damaging them, and you can clean your teeth as usual in order to maintain good oral health. They can also be removed for sporting activity, so that your lifestyle is only minimally impacted.
Step 4 – Monitoring
We will monitor your progress every 4-6 weeks in order to make sure that the aligners are being worn correctly and are pushing your teeth into place as desired. At each of these appointments you will receive the next set of aligners, depending on how long your treatment needs to go on for.
